About Integral Yoga

glass and reflections of swimming poolIntegral yoga combines various systems and branches of yoga and in practice allows the student to work within ones capacity and personal needs. Good health is experienced when our anatomical and physiological systems are harmoniously balanced and in synchronisation.

And I'm sure that most of us have felt that state of optimum vitality at some time. But knowing how to maintain it is the beauty of practicing yoga technique and the key to taking control of your life.

Yoga helps invigorate the body and calms the mind.  Application of specific asana (posture), mudra (body & hand gestures) with breath focus can help to affect the change and balance within the psycho-physical connections of body to bring about the positive benefits of health and longevity.

In Yogic philosophy we have three bodies; the Physical, Subtle (astral) and Causal (spirit), and thus provides the foundation along the path to 'self realization'.

The main emphasis of Integral yoga is 'attention to the breath', from the therapeutic and somatic levels of body-breath awareness to the systemized techniques of Pranayama (mind-breath fusion), as a means of manipulating the subtle energy systems of the body for self-purification and union of the three- body, mind and spirit.

'One to One' Integral Yoga sessions at Akasha Beach Retreat are designed to meet the personal needs and capacity of each individual, which in turn helps to broaden ones self-awareness towards integration of physical, mental and emotional states of being.

The theme of Integral Yoga is ... "Harmonizing body, mind awareness through Prana" (life force).  It is this 'life force' that is the ongoing pulsation of life that resides within and without us. Being surrounded by the beauty of nature is a common remedy in promoting health to experience well-being.

Through the body’s five senses you are able to absorb into your body the healing energy of Mother Nature’s 'life-force' that is Prana.

At Akasha Beach Retreat guests readily make that intuitive connection between the inner and outer experience of just being in the 'now' and leave feeling refreshed, nurtured and inspired.
